About Tanya
Hi, I’m Tanya Davies, host of Unveiling Canada. I created this series to rediscover the people, places, discoveries, and moments that shaped our country, and to tell those stories in a way that feels curious, engaging, and distinctly Canadian.
My work with Northern Perspective made me increasingly curious about the how and why behind the Canada we see today, not just in government, but in the country as a whole. The more I looked, the more I found stories I had never been taught in school, and I realized how much of our history still shapes the way we live now.
That curiosity is a big part of Unveiling Canada. I want to keep learning those stories for myself, but I also love the idea of being able to share them with my son, and with other Canadians who may never have had the chance to learn them either.
Why Unveiling Canada?
So much of Canada’s story is made up of things I never learned in school. The more I dig into our history, the more I realize how many people, events, decisions, and discoveries helped shape the country we live in today, including our culture, our government, and even parts of everyday life we barely think about.
Part of the inspiration for Unveiling Canada also comes from the old Heritage Minutes. If you grew up watching Canadian television, chances are you remember them too. They had a way of taking a piece of history and making it memorable in just a few minutes.
Unveiling Canada is my way of taking that same curiosity and going deeper, rediscovering the stories that helped make Canada what it is today and sharing them in a way that feels engaging, approachable, and leaves you wanting to learn more.
