Information we collect and how we use it

Contact form: When you contact us, we collect your name, email address, subject, message, and the date and time of your submission. The submission is sent to info@northernperspective.ca. We use it to read and respond to your message and to consider any episode ideas you share. Squarespace may also store your submission details in the website’s Contacts panel.

Newsletter: The contact form gives you the option to sign up for email updates. This is voluntary. If you choose to subscribe, we use your email address to send you updates about Unveiling Canada. Sending us a message or making a contribution does not, by itself, subscribe you. You can unsubscribe through the link in any newsletter email or by contacting us.

Contributions: If you make a contribution, we collect the information needed to process and record it, such as your name, email address, contribution amount, transaction details, and any message you choose to leave. PayPal processes the payment. We may receive contribution and transaction information through PayPal and Squarespace, but we do not receive your full card or bank account number. We use this information to keep records and address questions about the transaction. Please note: Contributions are not charitable donations and are not eligible for a charitable tax receipt.

Website activity: Squarespace collects information needed to operate the site and provide analytics. This may include your IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, referral source, and information about your activity on the site. We use this information to understand how the website is used and to maintain it.

Squarespace uses necessary cookies to operate this website. With your permission, it may also use non-essential cookies to help us understand site traffic and activity. You can accept, decline, or manage non-essential cookies using the choices in our cookie banner. We use Squarespace to host and operate the website and manage site contacts and email subscriptions. We use PayPal to process contributions. These providers handle information as needed to deliver their services and may also handle it under their own privacy policies.

We may disclose information if required by law or if necessary to protect the security of the website and its transactions. Some service providers may process or store information outside Canada. Information handled in another country may be subject to that country’s laws.

Links to other websites

Episode thumbnails and some buttons link to our YouTube channel. When you click them, you leave our website and YouTube’s privacy practices apply to your visit there. The same applies to other external websites linked from our site. The video hosted directly on our website is delivered through Squarespace.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as needed to respond to messages, manage subscriptions and contributions, maintain appropriate records, and meet legal obligations. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or remove identifying details where appropriate.

We take reasonable steps to limit access to personal information and protect it from unauthorized access, loss, and misuse. No website or electronic transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can unsubscribe from email updates at any time. You can also ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you, withdraw consent where applicable, or raise a concern about our privacy practices.
